Atlas & Maxie now showing
Atlas and Maxie are our Portuguese Water Dog puppies that are currently showing.
Atlas earned his AKC Championship this summer will hopefully he will earn the last of 6 points for his AKC Grand Championship by the Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty at the end of August held in Frankenmuth, MI. He won Best of Sweepstakes is the USSPWD Regional Club Supported Entry and Best of Opposite at the Movers and Shakers Carolina Regional Club Supported Entry. He is frequently complimented on his beautiful movement in the ring.
This boy is as smart as he is beautiful. Beth Mercier is training him for water and plans to enter him next summer at the United Sunshine State Portuguese Water Dog Water Trial held at Callaway Gardens in GA. He is just a little over a year in age but a very promising boy, too young to have an OFA hip rating yet, but health clearances recommended by the PWDCA are complete and he is clear of genetic disease. His AKC registered name is CH Torrid Zone Holds the Heavens with Calypso, he was bred by Portuguese Water Dog breeder Lou Allingham and is sired by our boy CJ. Atlas has even been in the ribbons ahead of his Dad! Atlas is owned by Beth Mercier, Lou Allingham and myself and shown by Canine Specialists.
Maxie is our female Portuguese Water Dog puppy out of Torrid Zone's Dam, Spark, bred to Kathy Clark's boy Cash, CH Deerchase's Barefoot Man in Black CGC bred by Margaret White and CJ Farve. Her registered name is Torrid Zone Barefoot in the Park. She was born last August and is owned by Jane Edelman and me. I am so proud to have the opportunity to have her shown. CJ Farve expects that she will finish quickly. She is also going to the Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty in Frankenmuth, MI. She has won Best Puppy in several puppy sweepstakes and I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will show herself and make me proud in the up coming shows and at the Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty.
I can not end this blog without saying something about our very exciting Portuguese Water Dogs Blaze and CJ. They both rank in the top 20 of the breed for the second year in a row, and will be showing at the Top 20 Event at the Frankenmuth, MI Portuguese Water Dog Specialty. GCHP Torrid Zone Smoke From A Distant Fire, Blaze, has lit up the attention of judges with multiple group wins, 3 Reserve Best in Shows and earned her AKC Platinum Grand Championship, the first female Portuguese Water Dog to do so and one of only five in the breed. She is a true show girl that knows what to do in the ring. Her name is quite representative to her nature as she is full of fire and working is a must for her, she will soon be on to her next endeavor training Rally, possibly water and motherhood.
